fate

well tennis habitues

the surprises at Wimbledon leave me shaking my head

oh dear
viewers consolation : ice-cream and
strawberries are nice at this time of the year
covered by a light dusting of icing sugar and a
mint leaf for colour

little consolation for those who have exited stage left

rainy conditions down here have certainly changed
a few outdoor habits

Tongarra road flooding and the great pics of Sussex inlet
make for a contrast
even the most enthusiastic lab retriever would leave the
tennis ball to drift off to its fate

change of court

well this weather is way too miserable for outdoor activities

all apparently are in agreement
even the everhopeful who turned up with
a basket of tennis balls and two rackets

puddles on the court can be dispiriting
and two heads walked and talked in consultation
and then called in quits

to the nearest coffee shop
plenty of people getting around with
long jeans and fleecy tops
and umbrellas in force

what did i do
turned my attention to checking
out the portrait gallery

as always a great show

over and out for today

TENNIS COURT CONTINUES

tennis court activities continue

a direct relationship between increasing sunshine
and more bare chested young men chasing tennis
balls across the courts

some games continue in high spirits
others sound very earnest indeed
long rallies, when the pock sound of tennis
ball fails, a loud comment or deadly silence

the tennis court is quite a centre for socialising
a uni break is coming up, marked by picnics on the
grass in the afternoon, lengthening into the evening

a gathering sometimes goes well into the night
accompanied by song and carousing

and parents in vehicles parked outside the uni housing
leading the push for packing the car with
their offsprings goods

well the parents look keen

as heardon the tennis court

so  today we play which game

tennis

well i'll be sharapova

you be connors

and so the audence was  treated
to a squeal and grunt performance

until the players dissolved into giggles

is it haiku

imagine this

as a mixed media in inks white guoache and charcoal
even throw in sepia and brown inks
lush
add just a dash of sage green
