light and shadow

a trip to the former Everleigh railway works in Sydney
opportunity to bathe in changes in light and tone
and shape

now for the art class students does this sound familiar
love the arched shapes
love the perspective enahance by the positioning of the
red coloured benches
.. the black figure could have obliged by moving
closer to the focus point...

and love the patterning created on concrete floor pourings

and the light coming through the arched space

AS SEEN ON TV

picture in your head
a row of buffed young men
displaying incredible hulk chest and back muscles
naked to the waist
shorts on

grippingwith both hands
 in front of chest
an enhancer
imagine a bar bell
oscillating, vibrating
as the handsome young men

show how hanging on to the moving
object
enhances muscular development

LINE ACROSS THE LANDSCAPE part2

these paintings are still on view until 1.30pm SUNDAY 19TH MAY, yep  the wrong date for sunday was put in another post

as there is another show to be installed on sunday afternoon it will all be over by 2pm for the joint
exhibition of Barbara Ward and Jeanette Prout
playing with texture against solid lines, and the line work reflects the sea, sunset and sky colour
water colour and gouache
acrylic painting on oil painting paper .. just gorgeous to look at

another one of the 4 landscapes which were grouped together
sandstone studies always a continued study of interest, whether a Brooklyn or down south in the Illawarra, acrylic paint on canvas stretcher frames

to everyone who was able to visit the show, thank you for your support

LINE ACROSS THE LANDSCAPE may 2013

long drive in the country/to scone  mixed media water colour pencil and ink

adrift  water colour mixed media ink pencil on w/c paper  well how idyllic on a li-lo summer

pencil drawing of banksia housed in favourite striped jug
collage called ' a bird in the hand' for obvious reasons excuse the spotlights reflected on the glass

thought the collection of colours in the corner too nice to ignore

blind view- watercolour and gouache, playing with the idea of peaking through the blind but creating 3 d at same time

the hanging team at Hornsby art society did a great job of grouping these four together

as you enter the hallway at Wallarobba house

Landscape aligned- diptych in acrylic paint on canvas stretcher frames, ignore the yellow influence on the colour

one of the 4 grouped together, Mt Keira  watercolour ink pencil and gouache

a 30cm x 30cm image using matte acrylic paint, exploring different brush stroke effects, and placing the line of light below the mountain line

light  light and more golden light, 30cm x 30 cm image playing shape and colour to draw your attention

the travellers return, loved the idea of playing bold geometric shape against finer details, just like a memory of a trip,   and could be an idea for a book........  another travel book?
one of my favourites, sunrise over  Berowra, acrylic paint on stretcher canvas frame

repeat of a previous image
mixed media landscape on watercolour paper

this is a mixed media piece, watercolour, gouache and had its first airing at Mussellbrook Open Art Prize 2011
end of part 1 of Line across the Landscape

IT HAPPENED

MORNING DOG WALK WATCH

two people taking dogs for stroll

one pushing an aged golden lab in a stroller

the second helping not quite such an aged black dog
on a gentle walk

Thursday, May 02, 2013

BRILLIANT MORNING

sitting here looking into a brilliant sunny day  and no clouds on the escarpment

so far  grandpa has walked the grandchildren to school

the border collie has done its morning walk with walker in tow

two staffordshires have steamed their walker along at a remarkable pace

and now two pugs are closely inspecting the grass across the road
and the dog walker is preparing plastic bags for the pick up

i could sit here all day listening to radio and recording individual events
as they pass buy the window

tantalising way to spend the day

the sun is beautiful, the tide is on on the beach
and now for brekky in the sunny window
